As a convention & visitors bureau or destination marketing organization, Visit Minneapolis North is funded by a local option hotel/motel tax. When customers stay at one of our member hotels or motels, there is a tax charged to the customer's bill. That tax is collected by the hotel or motel and then transferred to the city that they reside. In turn the city collects an administrative fee and Visit Minneapolis North receives the balance to market and promote the area to create economic impact for each city it represents.

Other revenue streams include grant dollars from Explore Minnesota Tourism, advertising revenue and other sponsorships.
